Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat crosses Rs 200 crore mark at the box office

Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Padmaavat' is still on its dream run at the box office.

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial period drama 'Padmaavat', finally achieved Rs 200 crore benchmark at the box office after eleven days of its theatrical release. The film is doing very well all over wherever it is playing.

According to film critic Taran Adarsh, the magnum-opus has taken the Box Office by storm and has raked in Rs. 212 crore.

"#Padmaavat continues its GLORIOUS RUN as it hits a DOUBLE CENTURY... Crosses ₹ 45 cr mark in Weekend 2 [despite no-screening in few states], which is NOTEWORTHY... [Week 2] Fri 10 cr, Sat 16 cr, Sun 20 cr. Total: ₹ 212.50 cr. India biz.," he tweeted.

He had earlier mentioned that the film marks Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor's biggest box-office hit till date. On the other hand, 'Padmaavat' might prove to be highest grossing film for Deepika Padukone, leaving behind the record set by 'Chennai Express'.

It was speculated that the film would be released in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as the main anti group had withdrawn its protests but it was a false alarm as the main Karni Sena group is still against the film and this is preventing exhibitors releasing the film in the aforementioned states.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the period film faced wrath from many fringe groups for allegedly distorting the history. Amid controversies, the film released worldwide on January 25.

The film will see major competition in Akshay Kumar starrer 'PadMan', which is set to release on February 9. The R Balki directed film was earlier set to have a face off with SLB film on January 25. However, Akshay called off box office clash by pushing his film two weeks ahead.
