The war for Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor

While we had reported that Luv Ranjan was trying to bring the ex-couple together back on screen, Ranbir’s Barfi and Jagga Jasoos director Anurag Basu too is striving to get them back together. “Anurag was trying to make Imli with Kangana Ranaut after his action comedy anthology. But since Kangana dropped out, Anurag is exploring another of his stories, which he wants to make with Ranbir and Deepika together. Katrina was the heroine in Jagga Jasoos, which tanked. Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor was very angry with Anurag for the film, but Ranbir wasn’t. He knew that flops are a part of one’s career and is backing Anurag for the film. But Anurag wants to cast the ex-lovers together,” says a trade source.

Now the only issue is whether Ranbir and Deepika will do two films back-to-back? “It is unlikely that they might choose both films. Hence the other director will need to get another actress,” says a source. Will it be Luv Ranjan or Anurag Basu or will both get lucky, remains to be seen.

Will Ranbir Kapoor take up the Astronaut challenge?

Much has been written, said or heard about astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic Sare Jahan Se Achcha, to be directed by Mahesh Mathai. But the film already has a traumatic history. First Aamir Khan opted out, then Shah Rukh Khan stepped in and now Shah Rukh is no more a part of the project.

Just when Vicky Kaushal was being ‘seriously considered’, he opted to do the Udham Singh biopic with director Shoojit Sircar. So where does all this leave the Rakesh Sharma biopic?  Right there by Ranbir Kapoor’s side and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur is very keen to have the actor on board.

“Everyone associated with Sare Jahaan Se Achcha is in agreement that Ranbir is the right emotional and physical fit for the part,” says a source in the know. So what’s keeping Ranbir from signing on the dotted line?

The source informs, “Ek  toh  Ranbir has lately completed the Sanjay Dutt  biopic (Sanju). He doesn’t want to return to the biographical neighbourhood for at least five years. However the producer is insistent.  Ranbir is being offered his market price. So why not?.” We shall know soon.
