Soha Ali Khan's green initiative
Soha Ali Khan has recently joined hands with the Mahindra Hariyali campaign, which works towards climate change awareness and builds a case for tree plantation.
“We all celebrate moments in our lives, and one impactful way to do that is to plant a tree,” she says, adding, “This is something which is easily doable for all of us.”
Speaking on the issue of climate change, the actress says that the planet needs more trees. “There is a desperate need to have more trees on the planet. They are a wonderful boon: They contribute oxygen, they help store water, and they provide shade. So it’s a lot that trees do, and it’s also so beautiful to look at,” she says.
“There is also a time crunch because we only have 11 years before the impact of climate becomes irreversible. It’s something that we need to do for ourselves,” Soha says.
She says that she is also sharing her passion for the environment with her daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu. “One of the books that my daughter loves right now is called The Great Kapok Tree. It’s about a person who goes to the forest to cut a tree, and how the animals come and try to explain to him why that is bad,” she reveals.
“Now she understands and she says we shouldn’t cut the trees. From a young age, it’s important to keep a message for the younger generation. You can minimize the use of the AC; in our farmhouse we have solar panels; we work a lot towards our environment,” the actress concludes.
