Will Bramhastra pay for TOH failure?

Now, the producer of Bramhastra Karan Johar has gone into an instant rethink mode.

Yash Raj Films’ most ambitious project of the year, the Thugs Of Hindostan is said to be the most expensive failure in the history of Bollywood. After the release of the film, it has put a question mark on the fate of some other epic sagas in the making, especially Bramhastra that boasts almost a similar budget.

Now, the producer of Bramhastra Karan Johar has gone into an instant rethink mode. Says a source in the know, “Karan and Adi Chopra (producer of TOH) are as thick as thieves. Now that TOH has flopped miserably, Karan has revisited the budget for his own Bhamahstra that is directed by his favourite protégée Ayan Mukerji and stars Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan along with his another most favourite protégée Alia Bhatt. Somewhere, Karan now feels he may have gotten swept into this mammoth project without really considering all the ifs and buts.”

Apparently, the decision to do Bramhastra as a franchise has now been put on hold. “Whether Bhamhastra goes forward as a series or not will depend on how the first film fares. Just because you have a lavish project, it doesn’t mean the audience will lap it up. As for Bramhastra featuring Ranbir with the mighty Amitabh Bachchan together for the first time, didn’t TOH feature Aamir Khan with Bachchan for the first time? What good did that do to the project?” reasons the source.
