Creating Prithviraj with prosthetics
Prithviraj Chauhan was 26 when he was killed. Akshay Kumar — who essays the role of the warrior in an upcoming film eponymously called Prithviraj — turned 52 earlier this year. The film is rolled out by Yash Raj Films and is directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi.
Therefore, it was not surprising that in certain sections of the film where the actor has to look half his age, a mere Photoshop or computer graphics will not do. For the film, which also stars Manushi Chillar, Khiladi Kumar is now in the process of getting proper prosthetics for the first time in his career. While he had a heavy make up in Kesari, he did not need prosthetics. “But Doctor sahab (Dwivedi) wants him to look younger and good enough to play the role, and hence he needs a proper look for the film. The look test for the same was conducted over the past few months at Yash Raj Studios. Prithviraj had a handlebar moustache even when he was young, which stood out on his youthful face. Even if they have gone in for a star to play the role, we need to justify a few things in the cinema of today,” says a source.
Surely when Akshay is romancing a girl exactly 30 years younger than him, the knives will be out. Only prosthetics can perhaps silence them.
