Weighting for the right role

Bhumi Pednekar, who gained stardom as the plump character in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, now refuses to gain as much weight for her upcoming projects.

Bhumi Pednekar has been in the news for weighty reasons right from her from debut film Dum Laga Ke Haisha. She started her second film Manmarziyan which was shelved and then had her second release Toilet: Ek Prem Katham, which flushed out the competition at the box office. But her third release — Aanand L Rai produced Shubh Mangal Savdhan — has not been as successful a film as one predicted as her hero was Ayushmann Khurrana, the same man who was her hero in both Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Manmarziyan.

“There is a lot of discussion about a woman when it comes to her weight. But I have got several positive responses even till today. I got a lot of positive response for my second film as well about how I lost weight but that should stop now because it is over and done with,” says the actress.

So will she gain weight for any film that she’s offered? “Well, I took three long years to shed that weight. Boys and girls have different body mechanisms. Boys may find it easy, but I found it pretty tough. Actors need to gain or lose weight depending on the characters they play, but I won’t gain 27 kgs anymore,” says Bhumi
