Bappi Lahiri, Karan Johar foes no more

However, now, with Bappi's songs being remixed for two of Karan's productions, the musician seems like he's in a amiable mood.

The feud between Bappi Lahiri and Karan Johar is over. Bappi’s son Bappa had reacted strongly against some digs taken at his father’s music in Karan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Bappi too had responded acerbically to Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s bantering in the movie, which involved his music.

However, now, with Bappi’s songs being remixed for two of Karan’s productions, the musician seems like he’s in a amiable mood.

Unlike Anu Malik, who is miffed about his song Neend Churayi Meri being used in Golmaal Again without his permission, Bappi, who is currently stationed in Los Angeles, is very happy. His ’70s hit track Raat Baaki is being used in Karan’s Ittefaq.

Speaking from LA, Bappi says, “Raat Baaki is one of my favourite compositions. And this is the second time Karan has used my song this year. Earlier he used Tamma Tamma in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and I was just as happy.”

He adds, “I believe Raat Baaki is a milestone in Bollywood music, and Asha (Bhosle) sang it with me like a dream.”

So, how do the remixed vocals compare with the original? Bappi wriggles out of that one.

“Asha is Asha,” he says. “You can’t replace Asha or Lata with anyone. I consider myself greatly privileged to have worked with both sisters. I consider Lata to be Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of learning and enlightenment. Where do we have such vocals now? But the songs they sang are there. Ideally, the original vocals should be retained. But that’s entirely the producer’s call.”
