What’s Sanjay Dutt getting out of the biopic?

Since its release, the film Sanju has not only gained a lot of praise but continues to rule the box office. While one is applauding Ranbir Kapoor for his impeccable acting, the film gave the world a peek into Sanjay Dutt’s life.

Apparently, to bring these real-life incidents to the 70mm screen, Sanjay Dutt has been paid a hefty sum. And if rumours are to be believed, he has been promised a part of the profits for opening the vaults of his life to his friends.

A source close to the development reveals, “Sanju didn’t come for free. Sanjay’s team negotiated hard. They finally settled for an outright nine to 10 crore, plus a portion of the box office profit. Only then, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani were given access to the actor’s life.”

And what showed can be attributed to being real as several incidents and characters from the real Dutt’s life were ‘blocked’ from the biopic on request. Names of prominent girlfriends who are now married and settled to blissful matrimony, were also requested to be barred.

“It was made clear from the beginning that it would be a selective biopic, and Rajkumar was okay with that,” adds the source.
