One of the greatest cult films from Germany happens to be the iconic Run Lola Run. Filmed and released in the year 1998, it has the lead character of the girl who is racing against the clock to raise money so that her boyfriend does not commit a crime to make that money. The film has been an inspiration to many including Bon Jovi who made his iconic song It’s My Life after being inspired by the film.

Made at a modest budget of less than 2 million dollars, the film earned more than 11 times its investment. While there have been many filmmakers who had wanted to earlier make an unofficial adaptation of the film, there have been others who even wanted to procure rights, but never really got to doing so.

And now the producers of films like Neerja and Tumhari Sulu — Ellipis Entertainment, backed by photographer turned celebrity manager-turned-producer Atul Kasbekar and journalist-turned-producer Tanuj Garg are in the process of acquiring the rights of the classic German film to remake in Hindi. “They are in the process of the acquisition and hence no announcement will be made in the near future. The makers want to roll sometime next year and once they acquire the rights and sign on the lead actress for the film, essayed by Franka Potente in the original version, they will make a formal announcement on the same. It is also a very edgy subject so they need to get the actress who is in excellent fitness mode to play the role,” informs a source.
