Sunny, Sanjay and Sooraj short of leading ladies
Some Bollywood heroes have all the luck with the leading ladies, while others struggle to get good co-stars. Sunny Deol, one of the ’90s biggest stars, is facing an acute scarcity of good co-stars for more than a decade now. Even his previous co-stars like Shilpa Shetty and Raveena Tandon have begun to shy away from romancing him onscreen. Eventually, he found respite in Urvashi Rautela and Isha Koppikar in Singh Saab The Great and Right Ya Wrong respectively.
Sooraj Pancholi is another soul mired in controversy. He made his debut three years ago in Nikhil Advani’s remake of the film Hero. No leading lady wants to be cast opposite him. A prominent filmmaker who wanted to cast Sooraj in a love story says, “For some reason, every heroine I spoke to refused to be paired with Sooraj. I even approached a couple of newcomers. They declined as well.”
Apparently, Sanjay’s return post his incarceration has not found takers, either. After searching high and low for a co-star in Malang, he eventually zeroed down on Ankita Lokhande for the role.
It seems like the B-Town ladies are in the mood to pick and choose.
