IPL betting racket puts more Bollywood films in trouble
The fates of three big films are on tenterhooks after director Sajid Khan’s name too cropped up in the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting scandal. The cops first named Arbaaz Khan and then, his old-time pal, Sajid Khan, for having indulged in the IPL betting racket seven years ago. The accusations came about as a result of a confession made by bookie Sonu Jalan. Now, a third name, that of Murad Khetani, has also come up. Both Arbaaz and Sajid are involved in projects; the former is bankrolling the third installment of Dabangg, directed by Prabhudeva and starring brother Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, and the latter is helming Housefull 4, starring multiple big names like Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh and others. On the other hand, Murad Khetani is funding the remake of the Sandeep Vanga film Arjun Reddy, starring Shahid Kapoor. A fourth name of Parag Sanghvi has also emerged, but the film producer does not have any projects in hand.
“If any of these film people are arrested, it will have repercussions on the films they are participating in. While the case is rather old, the names of these people have emerged after seven years. In fact, Arbaaz has been harassed by Sonu Jalan for non-payment of dues lost in betting,” says a source.
