The details of Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming biopic, by Rajkumar Hirani, have been fiercely guarded ever since it was announced. Many had been taken by surprise on learning Ranbir Kapoor was stepping into Sanjay’s shoes, in the movie that documents the latter’s time spent in Yerwada Jail. The latest we hear is that Ranbir has started preparing for the role, but won’t use any prosthetics to match Sanju’s look.

Says a source, “Ranbir has started prepping for the film. The actor has also been advised to transform his body organically since the makers are not keen to use prosthetics on him to match Sanjay’s persona from the ’80s and the ’90s.”

As far as a release date goes, the little birdie informs us that Christmas this year is the target for the makers. “The film is going on floors from mid February, and the makers will shoot the second schedule in a span of seven months, hence the Christmas 2017 release date is being pushed for. The movie was earlier supposed to be released around June 2017,” says the source, adding that Vicky Kaushal too will join Ranbir, as he essays a mysterious role in the biopic.

The filming for the movie apparently began on February 25, 2016, when Sanjay walked out of the prison, with Rajkumar’s camera placed outside the jailhouse. Reports also suggest that the director has based the project on a number of recorded telephonic conversations he had with Sanjay, while he was in jail.
