Sushant Singh Rajput to be Inspector Ghalib in Madhur Bhandarkar's next?
The film maker has firmed up a new film on the sand mafia that is likely to have Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role.
It is being speculated that Sushant Singh Rajput, who is in talks for as many as 12 films at the moment, will play the lead role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film.
The maker of films like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion and Heroine is now making a film on the sand mafia in India, titled Inspector Ghalib.
“Sushant who had a meeting with Madhur Bhandarkar recently, liked the idea. He likes Madhur’s style of filmmaking and was keen to collaborate. Sushant is more of a director’s actor,” says a source.
Bhandarkar, who has been toying with a few scripts, has now finalised the film as the one to take ahead. He last made the controversial film Indu Sarkar which had to face several objections from the CBFC and was upset that not many from the film industry stood by him like they did in case of the earlier film Udta Punjab.
Speaking about the new project, a source says, “Cop films are doing well. Inspector Ghalib is the story of a cop who is up in arms against illegal sand mining in various parts of the country, and he takes on the sand mafia. And like every other Madhur film, this will not be a movie like a Simmba or a Singham. It will cock-a-snook at the issue and will tickle the underbelly of the system that supports illegal sand mining,” says a source close to the development of the project.
Madhur Bhandarkar refuses to say much, asserting, “It is too early to comment on the project at the moment.”
