Padman first day collection: Film off to decent start, earns 10.26 crore
Mumbai: Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Padman’ has finally hit the theatres after being pushed from Republic Day release, to give way to 'Padmaavat's solo release. The movie has earned 10.26 crore on the first day itself if trade expert Taran Adarsh is to be believed. This means that the film is off to a decent start, as it has to cross the 80 crore mark to be declared a hit.
#PadMan has a DECENT start... Fri ₹ 10.26 cr... The biz, expectedly, picked up towards evening/night shows... The journey ahead is crucial... Sat + Sun should witness strong growth for a good weekend total... India biz.

A lot of expectations ride from the weekend, especially evening and night shows, as they will decide the fate of the film. If the movie manages to mint even double or triple of the first day collections, it appears that the movie can easily enter the 80 crore club within 2-3 weeks.
‘Padman’ can face little competition next Friday as Neeraj Pandey’s directorial ‘Aiyaary’, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee, will release after getting clearance from the CBFC in the presence of the defence ministry.
In the week after that too, Luv Ranjan brings the ‘Punchnama’ gang, Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharuch and Sunny Singh in a youth-centric film ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’.
But Akshay Kumar might not have any stress as his loyal fans will make sure to watch his movie, so ‘Padman’ is expected to become a hit just like ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ was in the beginning of last year.
Directed by R. Balki, ‘Padman’ also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles. Produced by Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna along with SPE Films India, KriArj Entertainment, Cape of Good Films and Hope Productions, it also stars Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo appearance.
