Priyanka treads virgin territory with Sikkimese film

Pahuna is one of the many regional films that the actor is ready to produce under her banner Purple Pebble Pictures.

Priyanka Chopra has chosen a path that few have tread before. And no, we’re not talking about Hollywood.

Even on her home turf, the actress is venturing into territories that aren’t conventionally money spinning — like regional cinema. Priyanka’s production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, is set to producer Pahuna — a Sikkimese film — that will bring to the fore problems faced by children the world over. Says the film’s director Pakhi Tyrewala, “People told me that they’d fund my film if I made it in Hindi. But I wanted to make it in Sikkimese — it’ll be the first of its kind. I am amazed at Priyanka’s penchant for good content, not just money.”

Revealing the storyline, she adds, “It's a film that deals with issues of children around the world. I keep saying that Pahuna is a ‘children’s film’ buts it’s not for them. It’s about the issues our children are facing all over the world. Whatever we do as adults impacts children, and that’s what Pahuna is about. It’s about older people’s action impacting them. We are planning to release the film close to Dussehra.”

PeeCee’s production house is set to produce many more regional films under her banner.
