CBFC chief to lead India at Cannes film festival

The Indian delegation is expected to look at expanding India's footprint in the co-production treaty market.

New Delhi: It's official. Censor Board chief, Prasoon Joshi, the architect of BJP's propaganda blitzkreig for the 2014 general elections will be leading the Indian government to Cannes film festival. The leader of the delegation, Prasoon Joshi, had also recently moderated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's town hall event in London. The Indian delegation is expected to look at expanding India’s footprint in the co-production treaty market.

Sources stated that the attempt would be at showcasing the “best” of Indian cinema, the delegation will take four Indian films to what is known as the world’s largest film market, National Award-winning films ‘Village Rockstars’ from Assam, ‘Bhayanakam’ from Kerala, ‘Nagar Kirtan’ from West Bengal and Jeseri film ‘Sinjar’ from Lakshadweep. The India Pavilion, organised by the I&B ministry in association with Ficci, at the Cannes Film Market.
