The idea of the short film revolves around two very important films of my career, Pink and Naam Shabana.

Actress Taapsee Pannu immediately said yes to Nitishastra when she heard the theme of the short film.

Taapsee has always been praised for the roles she has chosen, especially after Pink. Her role in the Shoojit Sircar film, which focussed on sexual harassment and victim blaming, brought her widespread acclaim. The actress will now make her short film debut in Nitishastra, which has been directed by Kapil Verma. The film sheds light on the evils of sexual harassment and rape. Taapsee will share screen space with Vicky Arora and the film is part of a category called Large Short Films. Many award-winning shorts have been part of this category.

When quizzed about her decision to do the film, Taapsee says, “I wasn’t really sure if and when I would do a short film, but when Kapil narrated the idea, I just had one thing in my mind, that it’s only me who should do it and I instantly grabbed the opportunity.” When the director narrated the script to her, the actress knew that she had to be part of the film. Not only because of how relevant the topic is in today's times, but also because the action sequences and twists in the story sounded challenging.

“The idea of the short film revolves around two very important films of my career, Pink and Naam Shabana. So, I was instantly driven to do it. Kapil asked for three days to shoot and two days to train for the fight, which I was more than happy to give,” says Taapsee.
