Police rule out possibility of suicide in Mahesh Anand's death

The officials have filed an accidental death report in the incident and further investigation is underway.

Mumbai: Two days after the decomposed body of 57-year-old actor Mahesh Anand was found at his residence in Andheri, the Versova police have ruled out possibility of suicide in the incident. The officials said that the actor was facing health issues and was heavily into drinking, which may have resulted into his untimely death.

The police said that the house search did not lead to recovery of any suicide note or anything else that would pin the incident to him taking away his life. The police added that the actor was in need of money.

While there are reports that he was about to bag a role in an upcoming movie, the officials said that in these circumstances there was least possibility of him committing suicide. The incident came to light after the body was found inside in his Yari Road residence on Saturday evening.

The actor’s maid had arrived at his residence and after not getting any response from him, she raised an alarm. When the door lock was broke opened, Anand’s decomposed remains were found in his bedroom. The police took his body to Cooper Hospital. Anand stayed alone at his residence, police said.

“There is no possibility of the actor committing suicide. The cause of his death is however unclear yet and we are awaiting his post-mortem and viscera reports for the same,” said Ravindra Badgujar, senior inspector of Versova police station.

The officials have filed an accidental death report in the incident and further investigation is underway.
