I'm not at a competitive actor: Disha Patani

The actress talks about wanting to explore her acting potential with creative roles, dismissing rumours about personal life and more.

Disha Patani may not have delivered a full-fledged successful film yet, but she has been hogging the limelight for her link-up with actor Tiger Shroff.

The actress was recently seen in Kung Fu Yoga, which, despite starring a big international name like Jackie Chan, didn’t fare well at the box office. Relaxed now, Disha reveals she doesn’t crumble under pressure of not delivering successful films.

“I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not, but I’m not a very competitive person. I’m constantly working towards my personal improvement. Since I’m a highly self-critical person, I try to become better every day. I don’t see the point of competing with anyone,” says the starlet.

Having delivered a brief role in the successful M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, the actress reveals that she is getting some great offers. “I’ve been very lucky to receive interesting offers since M. S. Dhoni. I didn’t have a vital role to play in the movie, so to trust me on the basis of my few minutes of screen presence is overwhelming,” gushes the actress.

And while Neeraj Pandey’s movie did give her the much needed push, Disha says she’s bursting to explore her acting potential. She says, “My first film didn’t have me wearing any make up; Kung Fu Yoga was also a different film. I haven’t played a role that is glamorous, and I want to do such roles because I think I’ve been doing this kind of serious cinema only. I want to do everything and not get stuck with just one type of roles.”

Disha has now turned brand ambassador for the cosmetic brand Pond’s. Ask her if she feels the industry is driven by superficial qualities like fairness and she says talent overrides beauty. “For me, it doesn’t matter because the colour of your skin doesn’t define your beauty — I think it’s your talent that gets you to places.”

While several rumours about her doing Student Of the Year 2 are doing the rounds, the actress has something else to say. “These are all just rumours —nobody has approached me for the film. And, I don’t know where these rumours are stemming from,” she shrugs. When asked if she would she like to do SOTY2 if it’s ever offered to her she says, “I would love to be a part of that film. But since I don’t know the script, I can’t tell for sure now.”

While Disha and Tiger Shroff have kept their fans guessing about their relationship, she shrugs off saying, “We are just friends.”
