Brands go after brands: Abhay Deol is not keen on endorsing products
Mumbai: Abhay Deol is known to have been giving good parallel cinema. He made Bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy ‘Socha Na Tha’, thereafter he went on playing different characters. Abhay is known to have performed complex and serious characters in parallel cinema, like ‘Manorrma Six Feet Under’, ‘Oye Lucky Oye’. He is known as an unconventional actor by the Indian media. His latest release ‘Nanu Ki Jaanu’ is a horror comedy directed by Farz Haider.
While talking about not endorsing any brands, Abhay says, “I am not against supporting or endorsing any brands….Owing to my pure observation …through my practical experience the product will like to go with the XYZ actor who may be having five films in a row. Simply because all these brands believe in going after individual celebrities who are brands them. They have no confidence in their product and thus refuse to take any risk. Also these individual brands may discuss their openness on any given platform being different in spite of the fact these stars are conformists.”
Abhay is a keen supporter of environmental cause now, he says, “Yes, I remember when I spoke to a journalist about fairness cream he did appreciate my openness and speaking truly from my heart. They did put my open view on the use of such brands. But surprisingly, their front page had a big AD of fairness cream. So what I mean to say…who is the media to point out at the celebrities those who endorse various brands? When they themselves give all those brands pretty big space. Now I have decided only to support environment causes and speak of them.”
Abhay is currently enjoying his single status, speaking about that, the ‘Dev D’ actor tells, “Yes on personal front I am single and enjoying my single status. Now for almost 2 years you will see me work …work and work.
But all work may make Abhay a dull boy? “Let’s take it this way…Last few years …I have been playing all the while so let’s see these coming years as all work and work” So Abhay will not be a dull boy," concludes Abhay.
