PadMan day 3 BO collection: Akshay Kumar's film mints Rs 40 crore on opening weekend

Starring Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in leading roles, the R Balki directed film opened on February 9.

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar's latest film 'PadMan' finished its first weekend by collecting all-India net to Rs 40 crore. The film managed to earn Rs 10.26 crore on it's first day, with the total number Rs 23.94 crore in two days. As the Sunday was crucial for this Akshay Kumar starrer, the film minted Rs. 16.06 crore on its third day by ending the opening weekend on decent note.

Noted film trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter to share PadMan's latest collection, "By early estimates, #Padman does ₹ 16 Cr Nett on Sunday - Feb 11th, taking the opening weekend All-India Nett to ₹ 40 Crs.."

Directed by R Balki and produced by Twinkle Khanna, 'PadMan' is based on the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, inventor of low-cost sanitary napkins for women in rural areas.

Starring Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in leading roles, the film opened on February 9.

Next week 'PadMan' will face competition from Sidharth Malhotra-Manoj Bajpayee’s espionage drama 'Aiyaary'.
