Dutt rehab to be shot in US
Rajkumar Hirani and the actor will be shooting the years Sanjay Dutt spent in rehab in Texas.
Ranbir Kapoor is all set to travel to the US to shoot for a certain portions of the Sanjay Dutt biopic, which is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
The crew will be shooting the two years of Sanjay’s life that he spent in a rehabilitation clinic in Texas, at real locations in all likelihood. Interestingly, Sanjay has himself been denied the US visa renewal twice, the last time in 2010, because he was still under trial then.
The untitled film is said to be a true-to-life portrayal of the upheavals that Sanjay went through because of substance abuse. Even though Sanju knew that his life story was in safe hands with Hirani being at the helm, he was wary of the director choosing Ranbir to play him on-screen. However, Sanjay changed his mind when he saw some rushes of the shoot and the edits, and is said to be impressed with Ranbir’s look and acting. Sanjay has himself worked with Hirani previously, having acted in films such as Munnabhai MBBS series as well as doing a cameo in PK.
