Manisha Koirala has got Ranbir Kapoor awestruck
Ranbir Kapoor has been shooting with Manisha Koirala for the Dutt biopic, where she plays the role of his mother Nargis Dutt.
“I am a huge fan and have always been in awe of her work since I watched her in Khamoshi — The Musical. From the time, she landed on the sets of the Dutt biopic, she has carried a remarkable amount of energy with her. In fact, she came up to me and said that she has seen my films and she liked my work,” says a surprised Ranbir, at Manisha’s knowledge about his movies.
Adding to that Ranbir says that she never threw her weight around nor did she patronise anyone. “One never felt that she was such a senior actor when she came on the sets. She never made any bones about her expertise or her experience as a seasoned actor. She has been very calm and comfortable on the sets,” adds the actor.
Ranbir feels that since Manisha has been through cancer herself, her understanding of the character and the interpretation has been excellent. “Since Nargisji also was affected by cancer in the later stages, it was important that the person playing the role understood the intricacies and Manisha carries that with aplomb,” he mentions.
Interestingly ,Manisha acted opposite Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor in the film Anmol when she was 21 and Rishi was 18 years older than her. And now at 46, she plays mother to 34-year-old Ranbir.
