Kriti Sanon to star in Aanand L Rai’s production

After directing Hasee Toh Phasee, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, in 2014, ad man Vinil Mathew is back to making films. While he had announced a film called Sinbad for producer Siddharth Roy Kapur — based on the life of merchant navy officer Audumbar Bhoi whose ship was attacked by Somali pirates — the project is yet to set sail.

The newest development, however, is that the director has signed Kriti Sanon for another film. While Kriti’s last release Arjun Patiala didn’t do well, her previous film, the Laxman Utekar directed Luka Chuppi, was a success.

“Aanand L Rai is producing the film which has Kriti in it now. Kriti also has Panipat, starring Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, and Housefull 4 coming up. Meanwhile, Vinil’s debut film may not have been a success, but there are actors like Aamir Khan and R Madhavan who have worked with him in commercials and swear by his work,” says an industry source.

Details on the project and the rest of the cast will be made available in the near future.
