Shah Rukh Khan refunds distributors for Jab Harry Met Sejal's debacle

'Jab Harry Met Sejal' was a first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali.

Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer 'Jab Harry Met Sejal', which released in August this year, performed badly at the box-office. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film was criticised for its incoherent storyline, long runtime and lack of chemistry between the lead actors. The poor reviews and negative word of mouth ultimately proved fatal to the movie and it was declared flop at the box-office.

But Shah Rukh Khan, who is a producer of the film, has managed to put a smile on several distributors’ faces.

According to a report in BollywoodHungama, Shah Rukh has compensated 15% of the losses to NH Studioz, that had bought the distribution rights of the film in the country at Rs 80 crore.

The same report further said that it was after distributors asked for help to Shah Rukh Khan following the movie's bad performance at the box office. They requested him to do the same help what Salman Khan had done after the faliure of Tubelight.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film was made on a big budget of more than Rs 100 crore but managed to earn only Rs 64.33 crore in its entire run.

Although Shah Rukh Khan was not legally bound to refund money, he decided to compensate distributors since the losses were really huge.

This is not the first time that Shah Rukh has compensated the distributors for the debacle of his films. The 'Raees' actor had done the same for 'Asoka', 'Paheli' and 'Dilwale'.

Shah Rukh Khan is currently filming for Aanand L. Rai's untitled film co-starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.
