Arjun Rampal becomes choosy' about roles

When I met him for the first time, Gawli told me that I was tall.

Arjun Rampal has come a long way from being called a non-actor. The actor’s next project Daddy, seems promising, and is receiving rave reviews for his role as the gangster Arun Gawli. Looking back, he is happy with his experience in the industry. “I rather take criticism and try to improvise my performance. Today I am in a position to choose the roles that are offered to me. I have accepted all challenges.”

He is glad that he found his biggest critic in his wife. “My wife [Mehr Rampal] remains my worst critic to date. Even for Daddy, we didn’t involve her in the film, but I took her advice on something that she may have found inappropriate. I always welcome her sensibilities.”

While prepping up for his role, Arjun met the gangster to get an idea of his body language. The actor was impressed by Gawli’s interest towards his role. Arjun recalls, “When I met him for the first time, Gawli told me that I was tall; and he even asked if I was learning Marathi for the role. I told him that I am currently learning Marathi for the role.” Arjun adds that Gawli too wants his project to be successful. “What I particularly like about him is that he made us change a few mannerisms of his aide. After he watched the film, he corrected us saying that this person will never speak like this; so make the necessary changes. Though he did not ask us to make any change for him. That’s his greatness.”
