Kunal's patriotic side
Actor Kunal Kapoor of the Rang De Basanti fame hasn’t been able to fetch roles that match his acting prowess and has now started investing his energy on polishing his writing skills. While the actor is only open to doing meaningful films, he feels that filmmakers need to tap him for stronger roles.
Thrilled about his latest film Gold in which he plays the role of a captain, Kunal says, “Being a sportsman myself I always wanted to be a part of some sport film. I am of the opinion that such stories need to be told and it’s never too late."
While talking about patriotism, the actor expresses his dissatisfaction about Indians not doing much for our country and reserving their patriotism only for national holidays. “I don’t think we need to feel satisfied after unfurling the flag on Independence Day and Republic day. Sitting and talking in a closed room about the country should not be the motto of us Indians,” asserts Kunal.
The actor also urges everyone to contribute to the country on an individual level and in their own capacity, “We need to do something for the country by doing our bit and as an actor I participate in such films which can bring a feeling of patriotism in every Indian,” says Kunal.
He has now started penning down his vivid thoughts and declares he is a born writer, “It has come naturally to me from childhood and so far I have written four scripts and one is ready for production,” he gushes. Kunal also insists that one must take notice and hone their skills to the best of their ability, “I am busy writing when I am not acting. This year I have a few films to my credit and will be announced soon.”
The actor believes that women are better with finances. It is his economist wife Naina that calls the shots at home, while he efficiently handles the creative aspects. When asked about their plans of starting a family, the actor blushes saying, “Whenever we decide, we will happily inform everyone, filhaal kuch bhi nahi hai,” he concludes.
