Ekta Kapoor bags Hindi remake of U Turn

The film is about a female journalist who tries to uncover the story of road offenders on a double road junction.

Even as many Bollywood film production houses were vying to remake the super-hit Kannada film U Turn (2016) starring the Milan Talkies actress Shraddha Srinath, Ekta Kapoor has taken over the Hindi remake rights of the film.

The film is about a female journalist who tries to uncover the story of road offenders on a double road junction. The story gets interesting when all these offenders are killed one by one. Written directed and produced by Pawan Kumar in 2016, the film was also remade in Telugu and Tamil in 2018 by Pawan himself with Samantha Akkineni playing the lead.

“It is not being said that Ekta may still get Pawan to shepherd the Hindi version as well. A lot of filmmakers wanted to take over the rights of the film but Pawan was keen to direct the Hindi version as well. The film is also a supernatural thriller and that is the reason why Ekta was keen to remake the film as it falls in her domain. The last 30 minutes of the Telugu-Tamil version was different from the Kannada one. It is to be seen as to what track Ekta takes for the Hindi remake,” informs a trade source.

The cast and crew will be announced soon after the due formalities are completed.
