VFX delays Manikarnika

Indications are that the film, which is helmed by leading south director Krish, may not release on Independence Day either.

Earlier Kangana Ranaut’s film on Rani Lakshmibai—Manika-rnika’s release date got postponed because of the shoot and now the heavy VFX in the period drama has resulted in the film getting delayed further.

Indications are that the film, which is helmed by leading south director Krish, may not release on Independence Day either.

“A lot of films are now shown on chroma backdrops and need computer graphics and visual effects to be merged into the scenes. VFX companies take a long time to deliver the goods these days because the makers want state-of-the-art technicals. The same problem has happened with other films like Rajinikanth’s 2.0,” says the source.

Explaining why these issues are impacting the release date of Manikarnika, the source adds, “Many filmmakers are opting to go for multiple VFX studios to do different parts of their films, but the VFX for Manikarnika has gone to a single studio and hence this much-awaited film is getting delayed. Secondly, the director also needs to be happy with the output because it is his second film in Bollywood and he does not want to go wrong anywhere.”
