Excited to play Jahanara, says Kareena
Kareena Kapoor Khan had told us in a recent interview that she is all set to play a historical character in Karan Johar’s magnum opus film Takht. Revealing the character’s identity, the actress also delved deeper into her story.
“This is based on the Mughal Empire and I will don the character of Jahanara Begum. So, in Mughal history, Jahanara’s character was the most important woman character of that time. She was the main reason why everything would take place. Shah Jahan (Jahanara’s father) took all the decisions after consulting Jahanara. It’s one of the most important characters but we have to begin shooting. I am very excited to play that part,” she said.
While her character is steeped in reality, Kareena likes to add her own flavour to every role. “I believe in working hard for any character that is given to me. I also try to reinvent things and I am able to do so because I believe in being self-confident. And with confidence, everyone will do well in whatever they like to achieve in life,” opined the Heroine actress, who has done a variety of films both commercial and otherwise.
“After Chameli, I did act in a lot of commercial films, but I did perform different roles as well — the big budget also. After I got married, whether it was Veere Di Wedding or Ki and Ka, they are all topics that are slightly out of the box. No one likes to discuss this topic that the husband is unemployed and sits at home and also cooks at home, but there are such situations in real life. I have tried to experiment roles in the commercial genre too,” she recalled.
When asked what she wants to do next, the Good Newwz actress said, “I have been telling for a long time that I would like to do a thriller. I have never done a thriller, and if it’s an interesting thriller maybe then I will do it.”
Meanwhile, Kareena was busy working on her next film Laal Singh Chaddha when the coronavirus pandemic hit and the nation was put on lockdown.
“It’s a fabulous film. I can’t tell anything about it or Aamir (Khan) will kill us,” she concluded with a laugh.
