Relive 90s: Khalnayak pair Madhuri and Sanjay back on screen for Karan Johar
Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit-Nene, who were once touted to be a couple, were the pairing in most demand in the 90s.
Along with memorable songs like ‘Tamma Tamma’ (which was reprised last year for ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’), they gave some memorable movies like ‘Saajan’ and ‘Khalnayak’.
Their last film together was ‘Mahaanta: The Film’ which released in 1997, post which Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit never worked together post Sanjay’s arrest in the 1993 bomb blast case.
But Karan Johar has reportedly done the unbelievable! He brought together Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit on screen after 21 years, even if co-incidentally.
As it was known, KJo was going to make a film with the late actress Sridevi, who would be paired with Sanjay Dutt, but after the unfortunate happened, Madhuri Dixit came on board for the same film by Abhishek Varman.
Post that it was being reported that Sanjay Dutt might walk out of the film, but the latest news has it that both the actors will be working together in the project despite their past.
A source told Pinkvilla, “Yes Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt have agreed to work together for this film and it is indeed the best news in the longest. Ever since Madhuri came on board, everyone was wondering if she would be willing to work with Dutt, owing to their controversial past. But after much back and forth and some discussions, both the actors have given their nod.”
Adds another source, “Whatever happened between the two is past. They have moved on happily. Also, Madhuri has always believed that personal equations shouldn’t matter when it comes to professional work. It is a mature decision from both and they are both excited to work together almost after 25 years. The film rolls next month and they are aiming to release it in April 2019.”
The movie, which was believed to be 'Shiddat' till Karan Johar clarified the same, might also star Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles.
