A five-part webseries, titled Salute Siachen, was released by Eros Now earlier this week. An ambitious project, the series features celebrities from different walks of life on an expedition to Siachen, as a tribute to army jawans.

The series, shot with a fair amount of expertise on camera phones is chronicled as a well-told adventure saga. And it would seem that the mostly-male participant group, alongside a few women, is up for the challenge Siachen throws at them.

Arunoday Singh participated in the webseries just before he got married. The expedition seemed just what the actor needed to stimulate his sense of heightened patriotism.

“The challenge spoke to me,” he says. “It was truly one of those whims you feel blessed to have followed. The experience was wondrous. Truly.”

Director Shlok Sharma, of Haraamkhor fame, said, “As an Indian, I’ve always read and heard about the hardships our army has been through. Hence, as soon as the project was offered to me, I pounced on it. Yes, we can never even get close to the mental and physical strength required to fight for your nation in those terrains. But how else would I ever get this close to understanding and experiencing the toils of the soldiers?”
