Ekta Kapoor's love for Mission Over Mars

Ekta reveals that she decided to wait for at least a week before telecasting her show, so that the audiences had ample time to watch Mission Mangal.

Following Jagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal, Ekta Kapoor will soon showcase the inspiring tale behind India’s historic mission to Mars in the digital space with MOM: Mission Over Mars for Alt Balaji and Zee.

Ekta reveals that she decided to wait for at least a week before telecasting her show, so that the audiences had ample time to watch Mission Mangal. “I wanted to launch it on a Mangal day (Tuesday), but it’s fine,” she smiles.

The producer reveals that India’s mission to Mars made her ecstatic. “I had literally jumped and yelled on top of my voice. When I read about ISRO for the first time, I understood that we never read much about it. Then I saw the documentary of those four women. I was feeling so proud that I started writing to ISRO. Now doing this show, we have to maintain certain secrecy. We can’t reveal too many names, so we have kept it fictional,” she shares.

She adds that she is extremely proud of India for making this leap into space. “I have not reached Mars myself, but every Indian, 1.3 billion Indians, have reached it. This makes every Indian proud, and I am really proud about this achievement as well,” she says.

Ekta is taken up by the fact that the mission to Mangal launched on Mangalvar (Tuesday). “Though this is a small thing, but I feel there is some celestial connection to us. Like many people love to watch cricket, I love to watch such stories. Watching such stories ignites a sense of pride within me as an Indian,” she reveals.

The 44-year-old also shares her views on Article 370 being stripped from Kashmir. “I don’t know how many people will agree with me, but I look at it in this way: I’m living in a country. So for me, it should be ‘One Country, One law’.”

On a more personal note, Ekta also reveals that her own MOM is her bigger inspiration. She adds, “I am inspired by many people – Bhushan and Punit sir are the source of my inspiration. I am also inspired by the Ambanis; specifically by how well they planned the growth of the company. Uday Shankar too inspires me to a great extent.”
