No comparison between Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Jasmine, insist directors
The storyline of the upcoming film Jasmine has already got movie-buffs awaiting its arrival. The topic itself is something that directors Garima Wahal and Siddharth Singh feel is vitally important.
Surrogacy remains a taboo in our society even though the subject has been talked about in the past in films like Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Filhaal.
This film, however, is not along the lines of any of the previous films, maintain the directors. Garima says, “Once a film on a particular concept is made people will say it’s inspired but in our case it’s a different story altogether. It shows you the reality and shows the real world.”
“You don’t have to sleep with the man to be a surrogate mother and that’s what we want to educate people about through our film. So there is absolutely no comparison between Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Jasmine,” she adds.
To be shot in Gujarat and Pushkar in Rajasthan, Jasmine is inspired by a real life story of a woman from Gujarat who decides to become a surrogate mother for someone but gets attached to the child later on. The debutante directors are keen on having Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on board.
Siddarth says, “We are yet to hear from her as to whether she has liked the script but we do feel Aishwarya would fit the bill. She is a good actress and hasn’t done something like this before. So it will be out of her comfort zone. That will challenge her acting abilities.”
