Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor for Karan’s next?

This could well be the casting coup of the year. Karan Johar’s two most favourite actors, his mentor, friend, guide and muse Shah Rukh Khan, and his blue-eyed boy, Ranbir Kapoor, are all set to be cast together in the filmmaker’s next directorial venture.

The two actors have a long history with Karan too. SRK is not just a very close friend of Karan’s, he has also starred in most of his directorial ventures, right from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to My Name is Khan, until a temporary rift in their relationship.

Thereafter, Karan made his first film without Shah Rukh — Student of the Year — with three newcomers, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. Karan then directed Ranbir in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil last year. Bringing the two superstars together in one movie is a masterstroke that only Karan could pull off.

Says a source close to Karan, “He wanted to bring the two together, not only because it made casting sense but also because he has an idea for a script, where SRK and RK fit in perfectly.”
