Poster Boys will pay tribute to Hrishikesh Mukherjee
Shreyas Talpade, who is all set to make his debut as a director with the Sunny and Bobby Deol starrer Poster Boys, reveals that the film is a tribute to the legendary comic film director Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
“He was a major influence in my life. One thing that I have learned from his work is that a film needs to be entertaining; it should have all the elements of drama, emotion and humour. It should be a mix of everything. I have tried to incorporate all these elements in my film,” says Shreyas. “I have tried to keep the narrative simple. It is funny in places, so in a way it is a tribute to the great filmmaker.”
Poster Boys is the official remake of Shreyas’ production venture in Marathi, Poshter Boyz, based on three characters, who find their pictures on a vasectomy poster.
The film deals with the sensitive subject in an entertaining way. However, Shreyas makes it clear that, as a director, he would want to stick to making only family entertainers.
“I don’t think I will be too comfortable directing a sex comedy. I’ve tried my hand at all kinds of genres as an actor. I might act in a sex comedy, but I don’t think I will direct one. I prefer to be in the space of family entertainer,” the 41-year-old said.
Featuring the Deol brothers, Poster Boys is scheduled to release on September 8.
