Me, Sid and Balki were having lunch together: Neeraj on Aiyaary clash with Padman
Mumbai: Neeraj Pandey, who has helmed Akshay Kumar starrer 'Baby' in the past, is now ready to show some more patriotism through 'Aiyaary'. The posters and some stills from this movie released a few days back. 'Aiyaary' is the story of two army officers (Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee), or rather a mentor and his protege. The story is about the fallout between the two who respected each other. This story is also taken forward by Rakul Preet, Pooja Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain and other people.
The makers have released the movie's trailer a while back with Sidharth, Manoj, Neeraj, Rakul Preet, Pooja Chopra and others in presence.
The trailer has some intense moments. You can watch it here:
Both Sidharth and Manoj were in awe of Neeraj. While Sidharth said, "I have been a fan of Neeraj sir's films," Manoj then exclaimed, "Neeraj puts so much realism in content and characters that makes it interesting. I feel challenged with his kind of scripts."
Neeraj was questioned about similarities between 'Aiyaary', 'Baby' and 'A Wednesday' to which he said, "I didn't ever want to make 'Aiyaary' a 'Baby' franchise. The film closest to 'A Wednesday' in our whole journey is going to be 'Aiyaary'."
Further clarifying, Neeraj added, "It's not about Bofors controversy. It's a story about a Colonel and a Major."
On being asked about Naseeruddin Shah, Neeraj said, "It's belittling to call Naseeruddin Shah my lucky charm."
Sid and Manoj also seemed to share a great chemistry. Sidharth said, "Me and Manoj sir used to talk and do scenes in between." Manoj on the other hand stated, "Sid and I come from a different world of cinema. He is not afraid of asking you questions."
'Aiyaary' also faces a clash with 'Padman'. To that, Neeraj first responded, "We wanted to come on 26th Jan 2018 and are coming," later adding, "Just 4 days back, me, Sid and Balki were having lunch together. And we came out smiling."
