Manikarnika withdraws from Republic Day race?
While the poster of Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi has seen the light of day, it’s still a mystery when the film will enjoy the same fate, for the film doesn’t have an official release date yet. Though the makers had announced earlier that the film would hit theatres on Republic Day 2019, it now seems that the release plans have been altered.
“Kangana and the film’s makers were keen to pitch the film opposite Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 due to the buzz it would create, apart from the fact that the release date would be Republic Day. But better sense prevailed among the makers and they decided to hold back the release date till the Republic Day mayhem was over,” reveals a source. However, there seems to be another cinematic juggernaut filmmakers are eager to sidestep. “There are other films like Cheat India and the Balasaheb Thackeray biopic, Thackeray releasing and the latter has some fabulous reports. So, other filmmakers may not get adequate screens to make their money on that day. The fear of Thackeray is still looming large among filmmakers and the release date has been withheld,” adds the source.
Meanwhile, Kangana started shooting for Mental Hai Kya? In 2014, when Kangana’s Revolver Rani released just six weeks after her hit film, Queen, the former failed to impress at the box office. Hence, the makers of both films will need to be cautious about their release dates.
