Varun Dhawan to glam up again

But rumour has that Varun is done with the classy, at least for the moment.

2018 may be one of the most creatively satisfying years yet in Varun Dhawan’s career. Earlier this year, the actor delivered the critically-acclaimed film October, and now, he’s all set for the release of his small-town drama Sui Dhaaga.

But will the film about a common man’s efforts to fulfil his dreams match the box office figure of films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2? Probably not. We’re guessing Sui Dhaaga will only bring in moderate earnings, as October did. Which will also make this year Varun’s weakest in terms of revenue generation.

And while he is all for experimenting with unorthodox parts, his father David Dhawan believes that numbers play a decisive role in an actor’s career.

Says David, “I’m very proud of what Varun has done in October and Sui Dhaaga, but box office success is also very important. It is the success of a film like Judwaa 2 that empowers Varun to do the kind of classy work he has done this year.”

But rumour has that Varun is done with the classy, at least for the moment. Says a source close to the actor, “He decided to do one non-mainstream film every year. But in 2018, he ended up doing two offbeat films, and so he won’t be doing any non-mainstream films next year.”
