Athiya Shetty's a comic queen
When Athiya Shetty took on the role of a feisty girl-next-door opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Motichoor Chaknachoor, cynics questioned her ability to do a performance-based role. But the actress, who is the daughter of Suniel Shetty, managed to carry off the role of Annie — a small town girl wanting to marry an NRI — with elan. Athiya’s comic timing has definitely tickled the audience’s funny bones. Critics have lauded her acting prowess, especially in standing up to an actor like Nawaz.
Athiya is happy to have been part of a film that puts her in the league of ‘actresses’. “I am overwhelmed and elated with all the positive responses that have come in. I am grateful to the audience who have enjoyed watching me on screen. It feels great to have been part of this film along with Nawaz, it was a great learning experience,” says the Mubarakan actress.
Salman Khan launched Athiya opposite Sooraj Pancholi in their debut film Hero, and she will soon be making an announcement about her next venture.
