Sunil and Vishal tiff over cutting Coffee with D
The tension between comic actor Sunil Grover and Vishal Mishra, the producer and director of Coffee with D, has now reached a flashpoint as Sunil claims he was not allowed to see the film. The movie had been mired in controversy from the word go, about the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim and Vishal claims Sunil wanted to run amok with scissors to avoid controversies.
Says Vishal, “Why should I let Sunil see the film, when he wanted to personally edit out all the scenes with Dawood’s controversial dialogues?” The filmmaker claims that the actor, who plays a journalist in the movie, had cowed down after allegedly receiving threats from the underworld.
“He was instructed to eliminate those dialogues about Dawood, or else he’d face another kind of elimination. He wanted to personally edit out all the scenes that form the crux of the movie,” adds Vishal. The filmmaker says he would rather brave the underworld than remove those scenes. “I cannot reduce my film to an ineffectual condition, just to appease the threatening elements. Sunil can afford to mess with the film, I can’t.”
