Sixteen years ago actress Manisha was signed to play Indira Gandhi in a film written by Kamleshwar, directed by N. Chandra and bankrolled by Nittin Keni, the producer of Gadar.

Then, the actress had given an interview saying, “I have signed the film after looking at it from an actress’ point of view. Mrs Gandhi was a strong woman who implemented radical changes. I have gotten to know her better because of the film, and I find her to be a very interesting person.” But that project never took off.
