Force 2 defeats demonetisation, stuns box office

Force 2 has beaten the gloom for people and the industry, and we are super excited and happy with this growth, says Vipul Shah.

The new John Abraham action flick, Force 2, not only opened better than Force in 2011, it has also defeated demonetisation, it seems. Theatres across the country reported a good opening on Friday, and a substantial increase in footfalls on day two. While the collections on the opening day were close to Rs 7 crore in India, the second day saw a leap of nearly 20 per cent.

Comments an unnamed source from a leading multiplex, “We are not allowed to talk about collections. However, I can unofficially tell you that we are all surprised by the collections for Force 2. It has opened as well as, if not better than, the big Hollywood film Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them.”

Says Force 2 producer Vipul Shah, “Force 2 has beaten the gloom for people and the industry, and we are super excited and happy with this growth. That day one has been huge and Saturday even better is a very happy situation for us, and the film industry.”

Adds director Abhinay Deo, “The public has risen above the stress of demonetisation. We have proven once again that as a country we are able to face and respond to a difficult situation with an open mind and heart.”
