I still get royalties for Furious 7: Ali Fazal
Actor Ali Fazal, who kicked off his Bollywood journey with 3 Idiots, went on to become a global face. Every now and then, the actor is seen doing Hollywood projects and he is stumped by the way the actors are paid in the West.
Ali Fazal says, “The unions are very strong in the West. I still get royalties for Furious 7 for five days of work in the film. Every time it is screened on any TV, I will get a royalty, whatever it may be. That is a bit of a divide.”
“Everybody is still trying to find out the financial models here in India because of the digital platforms. We still have a long way to go,” he added.
Ali Fazal’s clutch of Hollywood films include Furious 7, For Here or to Go? and Victoria & Abdul. Despite consistently getting work from the West, Ali has not ignored Bollywood. “I have to take it seriously because its home. And secondly, I have seen the other side. It’s a great time for actors and directors. We are going through a very interesting change, with audiences appreciating the content. I want to be a part of that wagon and not just leave India because I am getting projects in Hollywood,” says the 32-year-old actor.
Ali Fazal’s latest is a web series titled Mirzapur.
