Vikram Phadnis to rework script he wrote for Aishwarya
Designer Vikram Phadnis has now ventured into direction with an emotional Marathi film titled Hrudayantar. Vikram took 13 years to make his directorial debut, and he recalls when he had written a script, eons ago.
“I had written a script for which I wanted Aishwarya, but that was a few years ago,” Vikram said. Ask him if he would like to cast her now, and pat comes the reply, “I will have to rework on it because it was written at that time. Every decade has its kind of cinema. Today, look at the kind of films being made, so I must be wise. If I were to make it now, I’d have to make it relevant to 2018.”
Vikram was earlier supposed to make his debut with a film titled Nia with Bipasha in the lead, but that movie eventually didn’t take off either. Phadnis says his equation with Bipasha, however, never got affected. “The energy was not right. Bipasha was very supportive, and she stood by me through it, but there were various problems, and the film just never took off,” Phadnis said.
“Bipasha is one of the first people who will be seeing this movie. Relationships are not necessarily a Friday-to-Friday equation. I have known her for ages, and we share a long-standing equation. I haven’t worked with her because the opportunity has not presented itself, yet,” he added.
Hrudayantar is an emotional screenplay about how a couple, who’re going through a marital crisis, set aside their differences to brave their 10-year-old daughter’s tryst with a life-threatening disease. Hrithik Roshan plays a cameo in the film.
Phadnis says, “Hrithik plays Hrithik in the movie. Nobody could have done this movie other than him. If he had refused to be a part of this, those scenes would not have happened. I just can’t see anyone else in that character that he essayed.”
Featuring popular Marathi actors Subodh Bhave, Mukta Barve and Sonali Khare, the film releases on 7th July 2017.
