Is Varun Dhawan the new Salman Khan?
Varun Dhawan knows it is a huge responsibility to step into Salman Khan’s shoes. But at the trailer launch of Judwaa 2, the actor seemed confident enough to carry it off. Varun, who will play Salman’s role in the 1997 film Judwaa, is aware of the responsibility his role comes with. When we asked him about it, he said, “There is a lot of pressure, but there is also lot of expectation from me. I believe that’s a good thing. I would be in trouble if people didn’t expect much from me. I want people to say that if it’s Varun’s film, it will be entertaining.”
David Dhawan, who worked with Salman while filiming his first, got nostalgic as he got talking about the actor. David said, “Salman is a seasoned actor. Today he has become something else. Whenever he gave a shot, one would feel that he isn’t interested, but actually, it is the opposite.”
Varun revealed that he watched Gulzar’s Angoor to prep for his role. He says, “This is a film about twins. As an actor, my father also told me to watch Gulzarsaab’s Angoor. That has been a big inspiration for me. The kind of work that Sanjeev Kumar has done… he is easily one of the best actors in the film industry. I even re-watched Sridevi’s Chaalbaaz. Anupam Kher too was very instrumental because he has acted in so many films. He has helped me a lot.”
