Purble-themed reunion for 'Class of 80s' as South stars have a gala time
Mumbai: While it is rare to see even two stars come together on a platform due to their busy schedules, 28 of them were also spotted together recently.
‘Class of 80's’, consisting some of the most popular actors in the country, predominantly from South film industries, came together to celebrate the eight reunion on the weekend of 17-18 November.
A tradition initiated by Lissy and Suhasini in 2009, the event this time was deep-purple themed at a resort in Mahabalipuram in Chennai, where the celebrities bonded over memories, anecdotes, old songs and their friendship, as per reports.
Revathy and Kushbu performed to songs from the 60s and 70s, while there was also a music concert by singer Sriram.
The stars also participated in a ramp walk competition, which was won by the men, led by Chiranjeevi.
“While we have been toying with the idea of having the reunion over a weekend for a few years now, we did not think it would be possible given everyone’s schedule. This year, however, many said that they were keen to have it over two days and we decided to have it in Mahabalipuram,” Suhasini Mani Ratnam, who was one of the hosts with Lissy, was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
Even Bollywood actors like Jackie Shroff and Poonam Dhillon were present, but they have also acted in multiple films down South.
“We had such a good time catching up and bonding after so long that we decided to make it a regular affair. While it was initially just stars from the south, Jackie Shroff and Poonam Dhillon have been joining us for the past three years too,” she said.
The actors who attended the reunion were: Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Sarath Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Bhagyaraj, Arjun, Naresh, Bhanuchander, Suman, Suresh, Rahman, Suhasini, Kushbu, Radhikaa, Ambika, Radha, Jayasudha, Poonam Dhilon, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Parvathy Jayaram, Sumalatha, Lissy, Revathy, Menaka, Shobhana and Nadhiya.
Lissy later took to Facebook to share a happy picture from the reunion.
Previous reunions have seen Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal, among others.
