Bollywood’s popular actor Sanjay Mishra is now all set to show his comic talent once again in Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit-Nene starrer Total Dhamaal. Well, the trailer of the third instalment of Dhamaal franchise got released and it’s getting a positive response from the audiences. In Dhamaal (2010), Sanjay Mishra had left audiences in splits with his character of dacoit Babu Bhai. And now he is all set to give us yet another laughter ride with Total Dhamaal.  In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Sanjay candidly spoke about his upcoming projects, co-stars, #MeToo and other issues. Excerpts from the interview:

You have always been one of those actors who stand out in multi-starrer with your outstanding performances. So, how do you prepare yourself to give full justice to your character?

I always think about my co-actor. While shooting a scene, my co-star and I contribute our efforts equally. I always learn from my co-actor and give my hundred per cent to my character. It’s totally teamwork which makes not only a film but yourself better.

Tell us some interesting details about your character!

As it is an adventure comedy, I did a lot of action. However, I did it with a lot of ease and I want to give full credits to Ajay Devgn for it. We would look at each other and do it easily. This is the first time, I did a lot of action.

Tell us one-moment that you would never forget while shooting 'Total Dhamaal'!

There is one scene in the film where Ajay Devgn tries to break keys of many vehicles. That scene is very funny and interesting as it was made on the spot. We had a lot of shooting that sequence.

Being an actor from a theatre background, do you think artists from theatre have to do more struggle to make themselves fit into this glamourous industry?

Glamour industry is totally finished now. A film like ‘Badhaai Ho’ was not at all a glamourous film as it has most of the actors from the theatre background. People usually try to make their films glamourous. If a film has good content with its rawness and filmmaker try to make it glamourous for commercial aspects then it can create a big mismatch. Now, audience like to watch the content, not glamour.

2018 has been a year of content-driven films. So do you think 2019 is going to be as same as 2018?

Yes! Content-driven films will come in 2019 as well. It has already started with URI. After all, content is a king now.

Mentioning about content-driven films, your films Aankhon Dekhi, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain and others applauded by critics but somehow got unnoticed by audiences at the box office. So, do you think such kind of films would get much scope at the box office now?

Box-office sounds weird now. Now, films with different subjects have a platform of digital media where we can put out the subject with much liberty and sincerity. Audiences’ taste is changing now. Even though small budget films won’t get many screens but they would do good business with those limited screens as well.

What is your take on #MeToo movement?

It doesn’t have one side. You can’t give any take on this issue. We need to research about it a lot before making a firm comment on it. And, I’m nobody to comment on this.

Tell us about your upcoming projects!

After Total Dhamaal, my next film Kaamyaab to be released in March. Later, there is Hashtag Gadhavi is in pipeline.

Lastly, why should audiences watch 'Total Dhamaal' in cinema halls?

It’s a total a fun ride. We have tried our best to make this instalment funnier than the previous two.

Directed by Indra Kumar, Total Dhamaal is releasing on February 22, 2019.
