Revealed: Why Madhuri said yes
According to an insider, Madhuri agreed to be a part of Kalank because there were no close-up scenes written between her and Sanjay Dutt.
Ever since the news of rumoured ex-flames Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt coming together for Karan Johar’s magnum opus Kalank broke, it has taken the internet by storm. Madhuri and Sanjay, who has earlier shared screen space in Saajan, Khalnayak among others, will be reuniting after 20 odd years for Kalank.
While this news certainly qualifies to be the news of the decade, we have now got to know the real reason why this unlikely pairing happened.
According to an insider, Madhuri agreed to be a part of the movie because there were no close-up scenes written between the two. The source added that there are not many scenes of the two together even though they are paired opposite each other. Apparently, Madhuri insisted on the same and the story has been written in a way to adhere her demand.
It is well known that earlier it was late veteran actor Sridevi who was supposed to be paired opposite Sanjay in the movie but after her sudden demise, Madhuri stepped in to take up the role.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Varman’s Kalank will see an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles.
Karan told a leading daily, “Kalank has been an emotional journey for me. A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago; a film that was in pre-production stage helmed by my father. I am now proud to pass it on to the capable and visionary hands of our director, Abhishek. The film is a beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija, and has an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek.”
The film will be jointly produced by Sajid Nadiadwala who said, “April 18, 2014, was when 2 States had released, and now on April 18, 2018, Kalank begins its journey.
This multi-starrer has a story that will cross all borders and will be historic in the true sense of the word.
I am genuinely happy to be back with the team, as this film is special to all of us.”
