No War without Tiger
If sources are to believed, Yash Raj Films’ plans of carrying their current hit War into a franchise would only entail Hrithik Roshan’s presence in the lead, as — spoiler alert —Tiger Shroff’s character Khalid is shown to be dead at the end of the film.
“Unless Tiger’s character is resurrected, he can’t feature in the sequel,” shares an industry source.
Aditya Chopra is keen on converting War into a franchise like Dhoom. “Since Dhoom is stuck after its director Vijay Krishna Acharya delivered a dud in Thugs of Hindostan, Yash Raj is looking at War as their next hit franchise,” says a source close to the development.
While Hrithik Roshan’s character of intelligence agent Kabir is going to be a constant, the main antagonist will keep changing, a la Dhoom. The problem is that audiences would hardly warm up to War 2 without Tiger and Hrithik together, so what will happen remains to be seen.
War, which opened on October 2, is expected to amass around '200 crores by the end of the second week at the box office. The enormity of its success has taken even its producers by surprise.
